Founded in 1958 and relocated to its modern facility in 2013, Taizhou Museum is a comprehensive cultural institution that plays a key role in preserving and interpreting the region’s historical heritage. According to its official introduction, the museum holds nearly 10,000 cultural relics, including more than 800 classified as national-grade artifacts.
The permanent exhibitions cover a wide historical span, from ancient civilization relics to Ming and Qing dynasty artifacts. Particularly notable are its Six Dynasties celadon ceramics, Ming dynasty textiles, ancient paintings, and calligraphy works by renowned artists. These collections reflect the cultural richness of the Yangtze River basin and the historical significance of the Grand Canal region.
Beyond preservation, the museum also serves as a public cultural education platform, offering exhibitions, academic programs, and interactive displays that help visitors better understand Taizhou’s historical development and cultural identity.
