The Lingering Garden is one of China’s Four Great Classical Gardens and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is renowned for its exquisite architectural composition, refined spatial structure, and remarkable use of Taihu stone formations.
Originally established in the Ming Dynasty, the garden reached its artistic maturity during the Qing Dynasty. It is divided into multiple thematic areas, including the central water landscape, the eastern residential-style courtyard, the western rockery scenery, and the northern bamboo grove.
The garden is especially famous for its carefully arranged corridors and halls, which create a flowing sense of space, guiding visitors through a series of poetic landscape paintings. The famous “Cloud-Capped Peak” (Guanyun Feng) is one of the most iconic Taihu stones in China, symbolizing the elegance and strength of classical Chinese aesthetics.
